Knee Stretching Exercises

Stretching is key to your health and fitness. Building flexibility
along with strength and cardiovascular heath is part of a well
rounded program. Sometimes stretching and flexibility are
overlooked. The importance of stretching becomes more important as
aging decreases flexibility.

Stretching increases ROM (range of motion), relaxes muscles and
decreases muscle tension, decreases joint stiffness, and can improve
posture and well being.

Some sports and activities like Yoga have stretching as a big part of
there routine.

It is best to stretch after warming up. When the muscles are warm
after exercise they can be stretched better.

Knee Stretching Technique

  • Don't over stretch. Stretch tell you feel slight tension but do not
stretch where there is pain or discomfort.

  • Balance your stretching. Stretch the muscles on both sides of the
body so they are stretched evenly.

  • Stretch slowly. Hold the stretch for 14 seconds or longer and
release just as slowly. Be smooth and slow versus jerky.

  • Breath while stretching. This helps to relax and stretch at a more
    even slower pace.

Knee Stretches should focus on Hamstrings, Quadriceps, Calfs, Hips and Lower Back.
